40 hours of travel but home safe and sound

We are home again! Alive and relatively well. It took 40 hours from leaving our hotel in Istanbul to arriving at our door with a 5 hr plane trip to Dubai, followed by a 10 hour wait then 14 hours trip to Sydney, then a few more hours in Sydney then another hour and a half to get to Brisbane. It really takes its toll on you as its near impossible to sleep on planes.

We left on a Sunday in Istanbul which it seems is a day off for most. As we were driving to the airport we witnessed just about every man and his dog along the shoreline having a BBQ with little portable stoves and rugs. This was for like a good 10km or more with very little spare space in between. It was crazy.

In Dubai we met Ben for a brief moment. Tess managed to spot him, on the move, from 50 metres, between two pillars, with his back turned to us, without her glasses. It was amazing. Great to see him again.

We have spent the last 30 hours sleeping lots and catching up on work and sorting through mail and other issues. We are going to have a break for a few days and then start planning out next adventure for Canada in September!

All packed and ready to go!

Bags are packed!
Bags are packed!

Well after a week of crazyness and never ending lists of thing we need to accomplish, we have finally got there. The bags are packed, all flights are booked, all accommodation is sorted, the Swedish party in our honour ( :p ) is being sorted and we are very very tired…. but excited!

The shuttle bus arrives at 5:20 in the morning… which means that I will be waking up at roughly the same time that I have been going to bed the last 2 nights!

We have been watching some of the weather temperatures in our destinations and they are… well…. bloody cold!

Check out the current temperatures…

Brisbane         24C & Awesome
Seoul -5C & Cloudy
London 0C & Sunny
Glasgow -2C & Cloudy
Edinburgh 0C & Sunny (wtf sunny?)
Copenhagen -3C & Sunny
Malmo -5C & Sunny
Amsterdam -1C & Cloudy
Guda 0C & CLoudy

Now keep in mind that all of the above temperatures are actually a LOT warmer than reports through the last week with nighttime temperatures averaging -10C with lots of snow. Actually we are looking forward to the snow as Tess has never seen any and I have only seen it once, but never falling from the sky.

We will update whenever we can.

Have a great night.
